10. A HAPPY FAMILY REUNION

The hour show I performed last May 5, 2012, was about an immigrant family who just got be reunited with their children after 10 years who were separated since their children decided to come to the USA. During the interview there were many comments, and experiences the Aboleda’s family mentioned, such as things you need to keep in mind when you decide to come to the USA and fight for their American dream. They suggested that immigrate to another country is an important decision and you need to put many things in a balance and realize that you need to discuss your decision with your love ones and you have to be careful because you need to keep in mind all pros and cons about you and your family. Moreover, this family suggested that you need to analyze all obstacles you will find such as the barrier f the language, new country, and new culture. After that, you need to fix goals before to leave your love ones, keeping in mind it can bring a lot of inconvenient during your journey to another country. Also, you will need to communicate with your family frequently and let them know what are you doing and what they are doing. Finally, the last thing the Arboleda’s Family said was: “the only thing you need to keep in mind is LOVE is the key to keep a family reunited. And the last message was if  you organize and realize that obstacles are part of life you will be fine. My hour has an (UC) Urban Contemporary format considered the “melting pot” format, which attracts a large numbers of Hispanic and Black listeners as well as white. I used this format, because I know this area fall in this kind of population being me one of those too. I programmed my hour show by four quarters; I started my intro show in which I Introduce myself in the show, and the name of my show. Then, I gave an advance about what the show will be. Then, I sent a legal bumper ID, after that there was a song “How Will I Know” Then, I started my show with the first part of the interview. There we talked about the language barrier; discrimination, divorce, and also I related my own experiences about my bad moments and my success. Afterward, I sent a President Barak Obama PSA, then a song. Later, there was my second quarter with the same sequence. I continued with my second part of the interview about some suggestions that I gave to people about to follow our dreams keeping in mind that we will find obstacles in our way and just we can overcome them. Later, I sent a legal bumper ID, and then I sent another song “Aguanile by Marck Anthony”. After that, it was another PSA (Bon Jovi), then another song “Promise by Romeo”. Afterward, there was another bumper ID. Then, there was the third part of the show; It was about their personal life, where they talked about their relatives who got divorced and all sad side of their life in which they explained how they started from Zero and where they are trying to claim to get their goals. Later, there was another PSA (USHER ). Then, I sent another song “Las Cosas Pequenas by Prince Royce”. Then, there was the last and fourth part of the interview and the message about how to fight for your dreams. Later, I sent the ast PSA, Bumper ID, and song “Mami Ven Conmigo by Daddy Yankee”. Afterward, at the end of the show I made a summary of how you can success, overcome obstacles, and transform your life. Later, I sent another song “Danza Kuduro by Don Omar”. Finally, I announced the weather for the day and I closed my show giving thanks to all listeners and I finalized the show with my favorite song and Whitney Houston’s “signature” “Hoy Llueve El Amor by Tito El Bambino”.

9. AN EXAMPLE OF SUPERATION (INTERVIEW)

The radio show I performed last May 4, 2012 was about an immigrant woman who is really an example of separation in the United States of America. According to my interview with Mrs. Magali Obando there were some suggestions she wanted to share with us. Also, she wanted to teach us about how to overcome obstacles and have a good vision to get good decisions that will help us in the future. Moreover, she explained us about how you will find opportunities and obstacles during all of your life, especially if you live in a country fulfill of opportunities as it is the USA.  Also, as Mrs. Obando related about the differences among your native country and the new country. Then, is there when you need a good vision to get good decisions because from them depend your future. Afterward, you need to learn that bad things also are part of our life therefore; you must learn how to take advantage of those bad things to become them in a positive way. Also, you need to understand that sometimes you have to do things you never image, but you have to take the advantage of those changes in your life because it will help you to get experience in things that are new for you. If you decide to fight for you American dream, you need to keep in mind you will find an obstacle such as the barrier language, the diversity of multicultural and the migratory status is an important issue to keep in mind. Finally, remember that the key to overcome all of those obstacles is believe in yourself and have a positive body, mind, and spirit, just in the way you will be fine. 8. EDUCATION IS YOUR FUTURE (INTERVIEW)

The hour radio show I performed last April 28, 2012 I interviewed a single mother who has success as a Social Worker and Psychologist. She wanted to share her experience to encourage other woman who is in the same situation one day she was. Also, she explained how a single woman can go back to school an success in their lives .Moreover, the interview was focused in send the message about how education is the future of each individual.  My hour has an (UC) Urban Contemporary format considered the “melting pot” format, which attracts a large numbers of Hispanic and Black listeners as well as white. I used this format, because I know this area fall in this kind of population being me one of those too. I programmed my hour show by four quarters; I started my intro show in which I Introduce myself in the show, and the name of my show. Then, I gave an advance about what the show will be. Then, I sent a legal bumper ID, after that there was a song “How Will I Know” Then, I started my show with the first part of the interview about how was my beginning when Margarita decides to be a single mother and face life alone with her little daughter. Also, she related all inconvenient she had to overcome when she arrived to the United States with her family. Then I continued with my second part of the information, I asked Margarita about how she handles the stress, and how it can affect you without any exception as well as your family, job, and school. Afterward, the interviewer (Margarita) said: you need to realize that education is the only way you can lead us to be successful person despite to be a single mother, full time worker, and full time student. Then, there was a suggestion the Psychologist gave us about Education, and she said: if you focuses in Education as a base of your future you will find the key success. Also you need to plan your activities because at that moment you will be facing many things like being responsible of your assignments at school, as well as you need to organize you time to share with you children, and always keeping in mind you are  a 24/7 MOM.  Later, there was another PSA (USHER ). Then, I sent another song “Hoy Llueve El Amor by Tito El Bambino”. Then, there was the last and fourth part of my informative message about how to achieve your goals and having a healthy mind because just in that way you will get it. 7. INFORMATIVE MESSAGE ABOUT HIV VIRUS AND AIDS

In the hour radio show I performed last April 21, 2012, I made an informative message to the audience about the epidemic disease that is affecting human beings around the world; it is HIV Virus and AIDS. First, I explained HIV stands for Human Immunodeficiency virus. First, I explained how HIV was discovering In Los Angeles in 1981 in a homosexual man. Also, I explained how at the beginning was the misconception that HIV was present just in homosexual, but then it was appearing new cases. In the second part of the interview, I explained how people can get contracted from the HIV Virus. Among those ways people can get infected are: having sex without protection with a person who is infected, blood transfusion, sharing needles (to inject drugs or steroid). Moreover, a baby can get infected at the moment of the deliver by his mom through his/her mom vaginal fluids (if the pregnant woman is infected with HIV). In the third part of the segment, I talked about how HIV is spreading around the world in an alarm way. Some prevention is: -Abstinence, - use condoms do not just reduce the risk to get infected from HIV and STIs, -do not share needles. If a pregnant woman is infected with the HIV, she has to be sure to have all medical control including HIV test. Moreover, I sent a message about how people need to understand and realize that this epidemic disease is a reality and just we can stop it. The fourth part was about how to recommend people about the importance to get tested and prevented from the HIV. Also, if there is a positive HIV pregnant woman she has to be sure to have all medical control including HIV test. 6. HOW TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOUR FREE TIME

In the hour radio show I performed last April 7, 2012, I made an interview about “How to Take Advantage of your Free Time”. I had two guests and they gave suggestions about how you can take advantage of your free time now that summer is coming. Some suggestions were: First, you need to realize in what activity you want to participate. Second, you can do a research about the places in which those activities will be held or how much you have to pay. Other activities the two students suggested us were go to the park with your family. Also, you can go to the beach, run, walk, or ride your bike. Moreover, you can play volleyball in the beach. In addition, there are some activities that can be done with money those activities are: go to Six Flags, Dorney Park, or even fly an airplane to go to Disney World in Miami or Disneyland in Los Angeles, as well you can plan with your family to go in a cruise. The two students suggested that people specially teenagers need to be involve in many activities to do not get involved in negative things, as well to be very active practicing sports because that is healthy too. My hour had an (UC) Urban Contemporary format considered the “melting pot” format, which attracts a large numbers of Hispanic and Black listeners as well as white. I used this format, because I know this area fall in this kind of population being me one of those too. I continued with my second part of the information in which I made the interviewed based in the information the two students gave to the audience about do positive things instead of waste your time doing bad things. Moreover, they explained too about those places and activities peoples can do in family or in group either spending money or without spend money. Then, there was the third part of the show; in this part, the students sent positive messages to young people about sport and how to live healthy. Later, there was another PSA (USHER ). Afterward, at the end of the show the two students and I gave a message about how to be careful when we chose our friends because some of them are bad influences. Later, I sent another song “Idilio”. Finally, I announced the weather for the day and I closed my show giving thanks to all listeners and I finalized the show with the song “La Ultima Carta”.         

5. REDUCING POLLUTION (INTERVIEW)

The hour radio show I performed last March 17, 2012, was about “Caring for the Future & Reducing Pollution” which is a very important topic I wanted to share because that is an issue that is affecting our planet Earth. I invited two students who gave us lot information about what is pollution and green house effect. For example, they explained how pollution occurs at the atmosphere at all levels. Also, they taught us how it can affect human health and the climate, oceans, rivers, ground water, and how the land can be damage by pollutants. Moreover, we learned how Energy from the Sun passes through the glass and warms up the inside. Then, the two students informed us about the different number of pollutants. Among them are: carbon dioxide (CO2) Methane (CH4), Nitrous Oxide (N2O), and Chlorofluorocarbons (CCL2F2). My hour had an (UC) Urban Contemporary format considered the “melting pot” format, which attracts a large numbers of Hispanic and Black listeners as well as white. I used this format, because I know this area fall in this kind of population being me one of those too. Then, there was the third part of the show; in this part, the teenagers talked about  the cicle of reducing pollution that is REDUCE – REUSE- RECYCLE – TREATMENT – DISPOSAL. Afterward, at the end of the show the two students and I gave a message about how to care and help to reduce pollution. Later, I sent another song “Periodico de Ayer”. Finally, I announced the weather for the day and I closed my show giving thanks to all listeners and I finalized the show with the song “We Found Love”.

4. TWO GIFTED AND TALENTED STUDENTS (INTERVIEW)

The hour radio show I performed last March 3, 2012, was about two Gifted and Talented Students who gave to the audience all information and suggestion about how to become in a GT student. My hour had an (UC) Urban Contemporary format considered the “melting pot” format, which attracts a large numbers of Hispanic and Black listeners as well as white. I used this format, because I know this area fall in this kind of population being me one of those too. I programmed my hour show by four quarters; I started my intro show in which I Introduce myself in the show, and the name of my show. Then, I gave an advance about what the show will be. Then, I sent a legal bumper ID, after that there was a song “Mami Ven Conmigo” Then, I started my show with the first part of the information about how the two teenagers became in GT students . Then, they explained how to apply to those selected Gifted and Talented School. Also, they talked about the requirements. Afterward, I sent a President Barak Obama PSA, then a song. Later, there was my second quarter with the same sequence. I continued with my second part of the information in which I interviewed about when students can apply. Moreover, they explained too about those schools cover just since second grade until eight grades. Then, I sent a legal bumper ID, and then I sent another song “Yo No Te Pido Amor”.
